Modern Kids Nursery Mood Board

Modern Kids Nursery Mood Board

I love creating a mood board when designing my next project, so I thought now I am expecting another baby in May what better way to put all my ideas for the baby's nursery down on paper than with a mood board. I also wanted to give you ideas & inspiration for your gender neutral modern nursery if you are struggling to come up with a theme, colours or just generally don't know where to start!

For this theme I have gone all out monochrome with a scandi twist. Monocrome is probably the easiest of most themes to do as you don't have to worry about too many colours & tones of colour, the black & white theme keeps it quite simple yet stylish.

Our Jimmy Cricket seeds wallpaper was the inspiration behind the concept, I love that even though it isn't bold in colour it makes such an impact.

To give the nursery a scandi twist I will opt for white or off white walls in a colour like Farrow & Balls All White to keep the space bright & airy and use wooden accessories, like our OYOY favourites in a mixture of Beech & Oak light wood to follow the light and airy theme. Scandinavian design includes a lot of wood!

Typically Scandinavian interiors are full of simple, clean lines & decluttered spaces so not filling your nursery with too many unnecessary items will give you the feel of Scandinavian design style. I have chosen our Lorena Canals storage basket in black & white as a stylish storage solution for toys, books, nappies, blankets and all those other bits you haven't got a home for.

Cozy textiles will bring another element into your nursery & a snuggly blanket will come in very handy during those night feeds! I have opted for our Kip & Co Pom Pom Blanket in a soft grey which is in keeping with our simple colour scheme. The pom poms will give the room texture too which is so important when choosing soft furnishings.

I love the fact that this could be a girl or boys nursery with not a hint of pink or blue in sight. If, however, you wanted to add a bit of colour once baby arrives, to stick with the Scandinavian theme I would add colours which are soft, understated & simple.
